Earl Grey Scones

From my Instagram:

It’s tea time ☕️🧡 These scones are perfect for breakfast or your afternoon tea, or just when you want that warm hint of earl grey. Not too overpowering, these scones only contain tea in the glaze, so you can regulate the flavor to your liking.

These are one of my favorite things I’ve baked so far 😍 The scone is super light and buttery; grating the cold butter in really helps keep it moist. I’m a fan of earl grey, but I think you could definitely substitute the tea for any liquid or tea flavor you’d prefer. I think these would taste lovely if you substituted maple, chai, apple cider, or even matcha and fruity teas. I bet you, using Sleepy Time tea would make this a great bedtime snack 😴 The honey adds sweetness to the dough without adding a large flavor profile, so you can really customize the recipe with the glaze.

No matter how you choose to flavor these, I definitely recommend you try them out just for the scone itself. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Happy baking!

Scones are so underrated… Fall is the perfect time to start incorporating scones into your baking routine. They are so easy to make and they taste delicious. Scones are definitely becoming a staple in our kitchen. These are also a great way to use up that buttermilk that you needed for that one recipe but don’t what else to put it in. Like I said in my Instagram post, this recipe only puts the earl grey flavoring in the glaze, so these are super easy to adapt into whatever flavors you like.
